Jacob Strecker, born 1999 in Cologne, Germany is a young clarinetist and piano player.

He is known for his exploring attitude as composer. As improviser he is a virtuosic player with profound messages on both instruments, what makes his solos special is the omnipresent possibility to go into an unexspected direction and surprise the listener.

At age 4 he picked up the Recorder, followed by the first steps on piano as 7 year-old. After starting to learn the clarinet and continuing on both instruments with classical music around age 14 his mom took him to a big band concert in a hip place in Cologne. He was fascinated by the vibrant energy of the horns and developed a fascination for the creative possibilities in jazz music. Shortly after this exciting discovery he joined his first jazz combo in Cologne, which was a key to get in touch with the jazz scene and culture. In 2018 he was accepted at the Conservatory of Amsterdam for jazz clarinet.

Furthermore Jacob composed a piece that could be connected to relaxational music or „Zen“ because of its soothing character. A music video was recorded in 2020 with Joshau Milo and after the youtube release it got added to important Yoga Playlists on Spotify. Many people have stated to enjoy this song very much in a moment of peace or before sleep.

Also he is interested in slower tempi and soulful lyrics which made him compose several pieces that were inspired by the american dreampop group „Cigarettes after Sex“.

Jacob lives currently in Italy for his Erasmus Studies in Siena where he participated at Siena Jazz Workshop.

In the last years he performed in different places in the Netherlands and Germany like Weststadthalle Essen, Cafe Metropol in small art galleries and in Brebl, Nijmegen. In Summer 2021 he had the chance to work one week with Avishai Cohen and perform with him at the renown Siena Jazz Festival.
